Broken Bones

So, after a relatively short five hours, Charlie left the emergency room last night with a cast from his wrist to his shoulder and a tummy full of tylenol with codeine.

Yesterday morning, Charlie was sitting on the bathroom counter washing his hands. When he was done, he jumped off, but since the counter was wet, he slipped and landed on his arm. After lots of x rays and waiting, we found out he has a fractured elbow.

He was such a trooper all day yesterday, talking to other patients or just snuggling with his "bobbie" (his blanket). Last night was a different story...he cried for so long, and then finally, i let him watch Dora over and over ALL night long. I don't think he got any sleep. I can't blame him, though.

Today, he goes to an orthopedic surgeon for another check up and other cast...he'll determine if Charlie needs surgery or not, so keep your fingers crossed.

ooh -- this is the part of motherhood i'm not ready for -- the inevitable childhood injuries. i'm sorry that charlie has made his first foray into broken bones. i hope that surgery isn't required, but it sounds like he's tough enough for it if he has to. if not, there's always dora!

poor little man! luckily when they're so little, they heal incredibly fast. we'll hope for no surgery, too. i hope you can both get some rest soon.
