This was Charlie's first Pinewood Derby. He was so excited and worked really hard on his car...which actually turned out to be a truck. He had complete creative control and had so much fun doing it.
My dad and Diana drove up on a whim and met us just in time at the church to watch the race.
Charlie's truck didn't do so bueno during the race and Charlie was not too happy about that. I mean, really not happy about that. Come to find out, the tape that we had used to adhere the two nickels to the bottom of the car for more weight actually stuck to one of the axels. So one of the wheels wasn't even turning. Once we figured that out, Charlie was feeling much better.
